13th Annual Historic House Tour & Preview Party

Saturday, September 23, 2017

If you love history and architecture, you will not want to miss the much-anticipated 13th Annual Historic House Tour on Saturday, September 23. The house tour celebrates the history, architecture and design of local historic homes; each with its own unique personality and engaging story about its past. The 2017 tour will feature an interesting selection of privately owned historic homes in Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships.

The historic properties and gardens will be open from 12 Noon to 5 PM on Saturday, September 23, rain or shine. Tredyffrin Library (582 Upper Gulph Rd, Strafford) will be the featured ticket pick-up location. Tour admission includes individual house history booklets with map and parking details. The tour is self-guided; tour the properties at your own pace in any order. Homes are staffed with docents to enlighten you on the rich history of each property.

As an added bonus, The Main Line Antique Show is generously providing two tickets for its show on October 7 and 8, with each historic house tour ticket purchased. The only antiques show on Philadelphia’s Main Line, all proceeds benefit Surrey Services.

The 2017 pre-tour event, ‘Party for Preservation’ on Sunday, September 17, 6 PM -9 PM at historic Duportail House in Chesterbrook, will celebrate the homeowners and the homes featured on 13th Annual Historic House Tour. The evening of fun will include a sneak preview of the homes featured on the 2017 house tour and serves to thank the generous individual and corporate sponsors who make the annual tour possible.

The annual historic house tour is a signature event for Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and educating the community about local historic and cultural resources. As the tour enters its thirteenth year, it continues as an important community event and the Trust’s largest annual fundraiser. Through ticket sales and sponsorships, the 2017 house tour raised over $20,000 for historic preservation and the completion of the Living History Center at Duportail in Chesterbrook.

Tickets for the 13th Annual Historic House Tour are $35; ‘Party for Preservation’ tickets are $30. Combination tickets for both the pre-tour party and the tour are $60. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is recommended. You can purchase tickets online at www.tredyffrinhistory.org.
