Chinese Kangxi circa 1710, famille verte pie crust border dish
- Category: Featured Exhibitors

Chinese porcelain was made for centuries before Europeans discovered China and established an active trade through the East India Companies that rose up throughout Europe. Porcelain made for export was very different from that made for the Imperial palace and the domestic market. The dish above is a fine example of Chinese export porcelain, made to copy a french silver design and with an Asian/Chinese pattern of phoenix and flowers, including peonies. The pie-crust border is similar to dishes made in France at this period in silver and faience.
